Helen West is a crown prosecutor who cares about people in the criminal justice system and seeks to ensure that justice is done. She has a particular interest in women's issues and has to put up with her somewhat odd superior and his cleanliness phobia. She recognizes that it's the role of the police to find the evidence but also feels it warranted to occasionally investigate matters herself. Unmarried, she is also in a relationship with Chief Supt. Bailey, though neither seem to be able to make up their minds about their futures or what they want to get out of life.
A young nurse called Ana arrives at a small village where she is supposed to take care of a woman in a coma, Sara. Her husband, Augustin, picks her up and takes her to the mansion where Sara is, while explaining her what happen to his wife. But Ana’s job as a care provider soon presents itself with unexpected and mysterious challenges. Robert Thorogood adapts his own novels alongside Lucia Haynes (“Vera”) and Julia Gilbert (“Midsomer Murders”), each of whom will write a two-episode murder mystery. Thorogood’s episodes will be an adaptation of his second novel, “Death Comes to Marlow” while Haynes and Gilbert are set to pen brand new stories.
